The Best Trails in the Zingaro Reserve

Italy Trail

Difficulty: Medium

Spanning 7,000 km, this trail starts in the Alps and crosses the entire length of Italy down to Sicily. The Italia Trail can be accessed from either Scopello or Macari, covering about 14 km. It runs along both the coastal and higher parts of the reserve, offering breathtaking views of Castellammare del Golfo and Baia Santa Margherita.

The Coastal Trail

Difficulty: Easy

Duration: 2 hours  (one way)

Ideal for those seeking a simple and relaxing hike. This 7 km route, achievable in approximately two hours (one way), is perfect for exploring the coves along the way, less crowded during the spring and autumn seasons. The trail is decorated with vibrant colors of grey-white rocks, the azure of the water, and the green of dwarf palms. Additionally, you will find equipped rest areas for comfortable refreshment breaks.

The Mid-Coast Route

Difficulty: Moderate

Duration: Approximately 4 hours

Of moderate difficulty, this 8.5 km trail takes about 4 hours to complete. It leads you to the upper part of the reserve, towards Borgo Cusenza and Contrada Sughero, where shelters are available for resting. Bordered by wooden fences, it provides a variety of options for continuing your adventure.

The High Trail

Difficolty: Challenging

Duration: Approximately 7 hours

Reserved for true hiking enthusiasts, this challenging trail spans 17 km and takes about 7 hours to complete. It crosses the highlands of the reserve, including Monte Passo del Lupo, Monte Speziale, and Monte Scardina. The predominantly mountainous landscape will treat you to extraordinary views of the coastal shades and local flora.
